... Apologies for the rough introduction. Welcome to the Wyld.
We're in need of hands... Adventuring work. I am called ████. You . . .
I know of you, already.
This is the Wyld. We could use someone like you.
> Like me. Because I sought you out? Because...?
The Wyld is concerned with the business of doing right. The business that... at the end of it all, no matter what a person's background is, or where they've come from, they'll make the correct choice now. We are concerned with doing good - making change in the world that will mend it, more than it will harm it. If there is a chance to put something into the world other than hurt, then it should be taken. If there is a chance to build, rather than destroy, it should be taken. The star has ample work for hands that are ready to take it. Adventuring is what most would call it. Honest work - though we try not to limit our operations to a single world region. It takes a lot of manpower. If you think you can handle the responsibility... we have an assessment, to tell us where your strengths are best utilized.
An organization like ours has many positions available.
Though, to know their real purpose... you must earn it.
If you don't agree with the assessment's results, we'll list the other choices here. Mind... there are consequences for failing to meet the expectations of each role... some of which cannot be undone. Those in our employ can all be recognized by the hoarhound medallion
they bear. You are not to discuss our company, its roles, our positions, or our activities with anyone who does not bear this medallion. We will enforce this rule by any means necessary.
Our chain of command, and our members.
A list of those presently in the employ of the Wyld. Non-comprehensive, of course. This list is limited to characters who have completed a roleplay that formally connects them to the Wyld on the basis of employment. It does not include staff of the Wyld Hunt, personal acquaintances, friends, or allies of the Wyld's management, or members of the Free Company in game who have not completed an introductory scene.
CRUOR
A figure that sits at the head of the Wyld's operations. Few know that Cruor exists at all. Even rarer do the employees of the company know of Cruor's true purpose and actions. Those above a certain rank - a certain level of trust - are permitted the knowledge of Cruor's existence at all. The rest believe that the chain of command ceases at the management. Those who are more involved... know that Cruor tirelessly keeps the company's operations afloat... and is the only entity that knows with certainty where the company's missing clientele end up.
MANAGEMENT
ARBITER .
Yora Caarvelian
The Wyld's esoteric "proprietor". Their behavior often appears to be unpredictable and to some seems entirely illogical. They are burdened by ghosts of their past; that much is clear. Above all else, they care. Yora oversees the entire company, but primarily manages its hunters, brokers, and liaisons.
GUIDING STAR .
Beau Dawnstrider
Typically working behind the scenes, the Wyld's operations would not be possible without Dawnstrider's efforts. Far more outgoing and sociable, they seem to better handle the "PR" side of things. Dawnstrider's expertise knows few bounds, but she excels in managing retrieval, supply, and admin.

IN PARALLEL OPERATION
Not under contract with the Wyld, but aware of its operations and operating in a tangential capacity. These are members of other organizations who do not work for the Wyld, but who may join or assist its members in their duties out of a personal interest, or with an otherwise aligned mission.

You would suit the role of a supplier.
> What does a supplier do?
Suppliers are responsible for the acquisition and transportation of physical goods that aid with our work. Those of us in... management arrange these contracts, and have need of people like you to have those goods moved. You'll have to earn a bit more trust before you're allowed to know where they're going. When working for us, you'll be provided the locations of safe pick-up and drop-off locations, close enough to their true destination for another member of the company to retrieve.

We have need of brokers.
> As in... an information broker?
Precisely that. Brokers are a crucial part of our operations. Brokers gather information - often by posing as someone unassuming, or trustworthy. All you have to be is a friendly face... enough, at least, that people might let leads slip around you. We serve many adventurers - some contracted, some not. They have need for consistent employment, but it can be... competitive, in today's market. Eorzea has no shortage of noble souls. We have to get there first.

You would make a good hunter.
> Hunting... what?
Adventurers are more reliable for handling common criminals. Apprehending them is typically the preference of local law enforcement, but not all of them will care too much if you take out a few poachers for good. Drug runners, dealers, poachers, black marketeers - they're a nuisance for every city-state on the star. Ghosts, monsters, voidsent, and more, too. If you can lift a sword and point it where we tell you, it pays fair.

You don't have to worry about that, right now. We'd rather you start as a broker, or a liaison. You have to be tested first.

You would make a decent liaison.
> I can talk, if that's what you mean. But, to whom?
Liaisons make everyone's life easier. Other adventuring companies can be competitive. There are a lot of ready hands that can pick up a sword, and a lot fewer jobs. Most of them come from abroad, these days. Liaisons make... alliances. They find other companies - arrange who's going to handle which jurisdiction - offer to lend our aid to them, and ask them to lend their aid to us. It keeps us operating with less competition, and it keeps rival adventuring companies happy... and out of our business.

Fieldwork may be too much for you...
> Is there any desk work, then?
Certainly, and we have need of it. Administrative tasks are... mainly handled by myself and the management, but the pair of us have our own unique duties. We do not act in the capacity of... well. The rest of the positions that we hire for. Our funding primarily comes from interested sponsors, and we do operate a venue. All above-board, sanctioned by the Temple Knights, of course. But that means there's no shortage of paperwork to be done. Organization keeps things running smoothly. Records of what goes where, what deals we've made and with who... the like.We have need as well for providers and help - included in the administrative position. Cleaners, cooks, receptionists - those are the help. As for providers... we have need of those who can simply lend an ear to those in need. Counselors and those versed in giving advice to the lost. Medics, capable of treating acute and chronic conditions both, for our staff and for our clientele. All of these, and more, we could use in our company. There is much to be done, after all.

[[ RULES OF THE COMPANY - OUT OF CHARACTER ]]
Every Roleplaying Free Company and associated community has its own regulations. These are the tenets that moderate engagement in The Wyld specifically, and are not generalized to all interaction in the wider community - referred to as Stray. If you desire to engage in our storylines, we expect to be able to hold you to these rules. If you would like to view the etiquette regulations for engaging in the broader community itself, including our venues and events, you can view them here.We do not require in-character members of the company to join the FC out of character / in the game itself. You are more than welcome to come and be a part of our storylines and community without joining the FC or being on Diabolos at all! Rather, the majority of the company's staff are not in the FC, and the majority of the FC members are likewise not in-character hires.
Roleplaying Expectations
OOO .
character tone
Characters involved in the Wyld's central plotlines are asked to be characters with reasonably thought out and easily rationalized backstories. This means that characters who fulfill more fantastical roles or interact with high-octane magic systems have been written so that we know how they got there, factoring in societal and interpersonal scale influences on their person.
OO1 .
powerscaling
Similar to the above rule, we ask that characters involve in the Wyld's plots are crafted in such a way that they have specific strengths, weaknesses and flaws. As our company's stories focus heavily on thematic elements related to learning to rely on others and accepting help, characters who are capable of handling everything alone will be difficult to incorporate.
OO2 .
lore-compliance
The Wyld is not married to the idea of lore-strictness. For the most part, we would like to not directly conflict with the established lore of Final Fantasy XIV, mainly as relates to how people can be expected to act and the average person's knowledge of the world. However: the systems present in the game leave a great deal of flexibility for systems that are not explicitly confirmed or established. We are open to player-made systems and lore, so long as it can be reasonably explained and supported by existing content and does not directly conflict with ingame lore.
OO3 .
metagaming and bleed
This should be something that does not have to be stated, but as with every roleplaying setting: in character and out-of-character are not the same, and do not reflect one another. Characters in the Wyld will be abrasive, dodgy, evasive, and unpleasant at times. Their writers are not to be judged for their character's actions. If writers in the space are behaving in this same manner, out of character, they will be spoken to about that behavior and its effects.
OO4 .
sensitive content
The Wyld's internal plots heavily involve conflicts centric to political identity, grief, trauma, suicide and suicidal ideation, abuse, and other heavy themes. These themes may at times be uncomfortable or difficult to process, as our approach is often rooted in or written parallel to lived experiences. Members are not required to participate in any event or plot.
OO5 .
player politics
Being a space that enjoys the exploration of inherently moral subjects, the Wyld is primarily populated by incredibly political writers. We will discuss politics, and just about universally believe all cops are bastards and other related political stances.
Those who proclaim themselves to be "not politically correct" or who believe that those who feel strongly about politics are "too sensitive" are strongly encouraged to show themselves the door.
OO6 .
nsfw content
The Wyld and Stray are 18+ communities. Characters involved in the Wyld's stories will have intimate relations, and it may come up both in and out of roleplay. Other mature subjects that may come up in and out of roleplay include drug use, violence, and other sensitive content matter.
We do not advertise ourselves as "dark rp" (as this is often a dogwhistle for questionable content), but we do engage in writing heavy content matter, and we enjoy explorations of difficult subjects.
OO7 .
rules and intent
These rules are not the end-all. If a player appears to have questionable intent in our community, but they have not technically violated the rules-as-written, we can and will still address that behavior. Our address of player behavior will typically begin with approaching that person, but can escalate to removal from the space in some circumstances.

someone hurt
⇾ You've heard that the Wyld opens its kitchen and rooms to those in need.⇾ It's not uncommon to hear that the Wyld offers opportunities to network with other groups.⇾ Adventurers come and go from the Wyld commonly, typically when the Wyld Hunt opens.
SHALLOWS .
here on recommendation
⇾ The Wyld offers a bounty board, with new jobs on it often for anyone to take. Some of them pay generously.⇾ They seem financially well-off. There's coin to spare for working hands.⇾ The information about the Wyld's "social work" is not publicly available. To the public, the Wyld appears to be a run-of-the mill adventuring company. Characters using this hook would not be aware of any missing persons, murders, or specific populations they offer aid to. Only above-board bounties and adventuring work.
DEPTHS .
chasing shadows
⇾ Sigils carved in out-of-the-way places lead a trail here. The persistent could follow.⇾ You swear you've been seeing things out of the corner of your eye. Something watching you. It's gotten more intense, the closer you get to the Wyld.⇾ Events operated by the Wyld cater to odd sorts. Soldiers and former Imperial citizens, mainly. Hard not to be curious about that.
LOST .
seeking penance
⇾ The woman in charge of the Wyld speaks openly about her history in the Garlean Empire. She speaks often about concepts such as penance.⇾ If anyone can cleanse the blood on your hands, it might be her.⇾ exclusive to characters with a history in trafficking A folk figure named "Cruor" - spoken of among survivors of trafficking, sometimes - seems to be at the center of stories that lead here.
You must have many questions.
The Wyld's structure and storylines revolve around a set of critical themes, most of which are central to morality and the ethics interwoven with abuse. Our plots will largely invoke questions to do with the efficacy and ethics of punitive justice, rehabilitation, and carceral or capital punishment. Here are some of these themes:
⇒ How much hurt can someone cause before they no longer deserve to live?⇒ Where is the limitation placed on how much damage a person can do?⇒ Who has the right to make the decision about how much is enough?⇒ What do you do if a person has been punished, but their victims want more?⇒ After how much suffering is it acceptable to cease a painful existence voluntarily? Is 'mercy killing' ever acceptable?⇒ Is it right to punish a 'good person' for doing a 'bad thing'?⇒ Can 'bad people' ever become better through their actions? Can someone make up for having done harm? How much can be made up for?⇒ Where do we define the line between a good person and a bad person?⇒ What is there to live for, when all you are surrounded by is hurt?
